Great Building Envelopes at Sates – Saiedue Living 2005

An exhibition-pathway on contemporary architectural trends

The twenty-fourth edition of SAIEDUE LIVING - International Exhibitions on Architecture, Interior Finishing, Building Renewal and Technologies, from the 16th to 20th March at Bologna Exhibition Centre – will host «Great Building Envelopes», an Exhibition-Pathway that will feature eight of the most intriguing European architectural projects brought to life by Italian building contractors.

The exhibition, organised by Uncsaal – The Union of curtain wall and metal frames builders - in conjunction with Federlegno-Arredo and O.N. Organizzazione Nike, will be set-up in the Quadriportico, the central showcase and heart of BolognaFiere, as part of Sates, the two-yearly Saiedue Living exhibition dedicated to building envelope technologies and systems.

Valode & Pistre Architectes, Jean Nouvel, C.Y. Lee & Partners, Studio S.O.M. Cesar Pelli & Associates, Renzo Top – RPBW Paris, Studio Braccaloni, Renato Sarno Group and Corvino+Multari Architects Associati, Gregotti Associati International, are just a few of the planners and engineers behind the creations on show in the Quadriportico as part of this sensational, spectacular initiative.

«Great Building Envelopes» is the first European event to bring together in a circular, eye-catching pathway, eight examples of the curtain wall systems that characterise what are now recognised as being the essence of the quality of living and working of large metropolises such as Hong Kong, Paris, Milan, Barcelona or Shanghai and represent solutions able to have a positive impact on the urban regeneration of metropolitan areas.

The «Great Building Envelopes» Exhibition-Pathway aims to contribute to making the general public more aware of the special features and potential of complex building shells in terms of well-being, modernity and liveability, within the context of biocompatible building practices and in serving the needs of mankind in the third millennium.
