After twenty-six years, SAIEDUE living ends its story at the Bologna exhibition centre

RESULTS IN LINE WITH PRELIMINARY PREVISIONS

The last edition of SAIEDUE LIVING, the International Architecture, Interior Finishing, Recovery and Building Technologies Exhibition, closed on Saturday 17th March, in Bologna. 122,803 trade professionals, 11,847 of whom from abroad, visited the twenty-sixth edition of the event organised by Federlegno-Arredo between 13th and 17th March. The results achieved confirm the forecasts made prior to the start of the Exhibition, in line with the data for previous editions, and highlight the specific nature of the range of products present inside the exhibition centre.

Planners, interior designers, building contractors, door and window fitters, decorators, fitters, dealers, building managers, surveyors, layers, etc., were given the opportunity to explore the very latest innovations regarding doors, windows, flooring, cladding, stairs, safety & security products, home automation devices, automations, recovery and preservation technologies, machinery for manufacturing doors, windows and frames and building software. The event, which covered 160,000 square metres of display space, 18 halls and 2 outdoor areas, hosted the products of some 1,420 companies.

Two special events broadened the range of products showcased at SAIEDUE Living 2007, Eden and The Intelligence of Walls, dedicated to sustainable architecture and new building envelope technologies, respectively. Composed of a catalogue show and a cycle of seminars EDEN - Building – Design – Ecology and Nature, organised through a technical and scientific partnership with the BEST Department of Milan Polytechnic, filled hall 35 with an assortment of products and technologies that direct architecture towards a more conscious use of energy – thus reducing consumption and pollutant release – and “virtuous” building processes that use processing scraps as both a source of energy and a building material. The Intelligence of Walls, which was held in the Centro Servizi and organised by UNCSAAL in conjunction with Federlegno-Arredo, Bologna Fiere and O.N. Organizzazione Nike, narrated the architecture of the future in an exhibition pathway. Curtain walls, aluminium and aluminium-wood doors and windows, glass, doors, sunshades, energy saving solutions and accessories where displayed in this special route that, through the suggestions of a modern art exhibition, provided a spectacular and, at the same time, concise overview of all building envelope products.

As usual, over 40 conventions explored the most current issues in the architecture, interior finishing, recovery and building technologies sectors. The congress calendar, which was organised by Saiedue Living in association with the main sector publishers, associations and leading companies dedicated great attention to energy saving, the use of renewable sources and new energy and environmental certification schemes for building products.

EDEN - Building, Design, Energy, Nature

EDEN is an absolutely innovative project promoted by SaieDue Living with the technical-scientific advice of the Best Department of "Politecnico di Milano" Technical University, which comprises a cycle of top-profile conferences and a suggestive Show Catalogue. EDEN is an initiative organised by Federlegno-Arredo and O.N. Organizzazione Nike in conjunction with Federlegno-Arredo. Edilegno, Uncsaal, BolognaFiere.

The installation, to be set up in Hall 35, intends exploring the topic of environmental sustainability within the field of architecture and the latest design expressions, with lots of room given over to a rich and varied selection of some of the major brand names on the Italian market. The event will host technologies, components and systems presented by companies which, for different reasons and to different extents, will be comparing their endeavours in the field of eco-compatibility.

Efficiency and energy saving, the use of ecological materials, abatement of polluting emissions, use of renewable sources, focus on health are just some of the issues distinguishing the products on show.

EDEN is an authoritative and privileged workshop with the ambitious aim of promoting and fostering awareness, in order to achieve greater respect for energy and environmental resources among manufacturers and designers, builders and end users.

L'Intelligenza dei Muri (The Intelligence of Walls)

“Intelligenza dei Muri” (The Intelligence of Walls) is the exhibition, at the same time spectacular and concise, of all the products of the building envelope through an architectural sign designed by Uncsaal for SaieDue Living - organized by Federlegno-Arredo, in conjunction with Federlegno-Arredo, Uncsaal, Edilegno, BolognaFiere and O.N. Organizzazione Nike - in the wake of the success achieved with “Grandi Involucri” in 2005 and “Trasparenze” in 2006, within the prestigious area of the “Centro Servizi”.

A platform rich in proposals and innovative products: curtain walls, door and window frames, glazing, sun shields and accessories, will welcome visitors and direct them to the participating stands to become better acquainted with the products.
